Carter County man arrested on drug, weapons charges tied to N.C. investigation

A Carter County man wanted in connection with a home invasion investigation in North Carolina is now facing multiple drug and weapons charges after authorities executed search warrants at his residence.

According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and investigators arrested Austin W. Salyer, 30, of Nix Road, Johnson City, on March 9.

Salyer was charged with possession of methamphetamine for resale, possession of a Schedule II drug for resale (fentanyl), maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon, and being a fugitive from justice for a crime in another state…
