Fat Bob’s Smokehouse Celebrates Grand Reopening

After a short time out, for interior renovations, Fat Bob’s is fully open once again. I stopped in last night with a friend, to take a gander at the new bar, back bar, and service station, built by Brian Wilcox (woodwork) and Jim Sikorski (metalwork), and to grab a beer.

Over the years, Fat Bob’s has made significant improvements to its service flow. Prior to the pandemic, the giant fish tank was removed, which opened up a prime section of the eatery for both servers and customers. The enhanced serviceability was considered a primer for what was to come.

The reworking of the bar and service station area is meant to better delineate the two sectors within the restaurant. As demand for take-out orders has been elevated since the pandemic, there was a need to create a dedicated spot for customer pick-ups (at the service station). That meant that the bar could better function as a place for customers to drink and dine, instead of dealing with the spike in take-out food transactions.

Customers visiting Fat Bob’s today will find a freshly revamped eatery that still serves up all of the deliciousness that they have come to love over the years.

“Allentown is where Fat Bob’s was built, and it remains the heart of our brand,” said Patrick Ryan, owner of Fat Bob’s Smokehouse. “This renovation gave us the opportunity to refresh the bar while respecting the history of the building and the neighborhood. We’re excited to welcome guests back into the space and celebrate the next chapter.”

Fat Bob’s Smokehouse will celebrate the grand reopening of its newly renovated bar at its longtime Allentown home, 41 Virginia Place, with a full weekend of events from Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15. The grand reopening weekend will feature live music, neighborhood celebrations, and the return of the restaurant’s popular St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
