COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Reverend Jesse Jackson died last month, his celebration of life held a few days ago. It brought back a memory for a veteran and his wife who do ministry on Fort Benning. They told News Leader 9 about a surprising and lengthy encounter with the civil rights icon.
“I was Platoon Sgt for the 30th infantry on Kelley Hill – in charge of motor pool, fuel, trucks, a quarter master,” Army Vet and Minister on Fort Benning SFC (Ret) Willis Wilson said.
