Rescuers use multi-faceted plan saving Rottweiler that fell into creek stuck underneath bridge

In Albion Borough, Pennsylvania, Thursday was not a good day for a Rottweiler that had fallen into a creek and found himself stuck under a bridge.

Rescue personnel from Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department arrived after a report referenced the dog stuck under a bridge at the Albion Borough Park. The incident followed heavy downpours throughout the day, creating swift currents and a very high creek.

Chief 601 requested Lake City Fire Company to standby their station while crews arrived to get a better understanding of the scope of the situation. Ambulance 617 and Engine 604 joined Chief 601 at the scene.

The water had been moving swiftly, and the frightened dog stuck on the underside of the bridge could be heard barking. It was then the Lake City Water Rescue Team arrived at the scene and sprang into action.

An emergency platform was made available, as the crews continued to hear the dog barking and crying for help.

Before crews could gain access to the dog, the bridge acted as a strainer and collected debris from the raging creek. Large logs and piles of debris had to be removed from under the bridge allowing crews to gain access to the openings under the bridge in order to get to the dog…
