Fayetteville, North Carolina – Severe thunderstorms could rapidly develop across eastern North Carolina and parts of northeastern South Carolina Thursday afternoon, placing more than 30 counties and coastal waters under a watch through 5 p.m. as strong storms track toward the Atlantic.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 51 covers a large stretch of the coastal Carolinas, including Cumberland, Johnston, Sampson, Wayne, and Wilson counties in central and eastern North Carolina.
