Lake Wales man arrested after causing two hit-and-run crashes while intoxicated

LAKE WALES, Florida — A 43-year-old man was arrested after causing two hit-and-run crashes while driving under the influence, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 9, 2026, deputies arrested Juan Medina, of Lake Wales, after he was involved in two separate collisions around 7:10 p.m. The first incident occurred at the intersection of US Highway 27 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard, where Medina’s tan Toyota Camry rear-ended a silver Hyundai sedan, causing significant damage and minor injuries to the Hyundai’s driver. Medina fled the scene before the victim could make contact.

Approximately five minutes later, the same Camry struck a white Chevrolet sedan on Cypress Gardens Boulevard near Mahaffey Road. The driver and two passengers of the Chevrolet reported back and neck pain, and once again, Medina fled without stopping…
