Criminal court to begin ‘automatic expungement’ for some charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Many people who faced criminal charges that Shelby County prosecutors decided not to pursue could have their records wiped clean under a new program.

The Shelby County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office said Thursday it will begin processing what it calls “automatic expungements” for certain cases beginning March 23.
