2 more sentenced in Montgomery mail theft conspiracy

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Two additional defendants have been sentenced in a mail theft and bank fraud conspiracy involving four people, Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson announced Thursday.

A judge sentenced Deshun Sheppard Jr., 27, of Montgomery, on March 3 and Tra’von Charles Rogers, 24, of Prattville, on March 5, to two years in federal prison. Both will serve three years of supervised release after their prison terms.

According to their plea agreements and other court records, Rogers and Sheppard took part in a scheme from March 2022 through February 2025 with Kahneil Jahe Oliver, 28, of Montgomery, to steal mail and illegally alter or counterfeit checks.
