Bevy, the latest restaurant to open on Park Avenue, can be a challenge to locate as it’s set down an alley off the street. Some might find it helpful to know to turn next to Pittsford Farms Dairy, or to look for the red sandwich board on the sidewalk. But folks of a certain age might best recognize the location as the former home to Prepp’s, a drinking destination for the just-out-of-college crowd from 1981 to 2012.
The place has been transformed into a full-service restaurant with an open kitchen and a classic but contemporary vibe. Just one nostalgic element from the past remains: the original wood bar top from Prepp’s.
Bevy is the latest creation from the Swan family, which, along with various business partners, owns several establishments in the neighborhood. They include Vern’s, Dorado, Roux and Pearson’s on Park Avenue, as well as The Alexander and The Daily Refresher on Alexander Street. They currently own Swan Dive, a casual bar and restaurant on Alexander, but are in the process of selling it. (A different family owns Swan Market, the German deli on Parsells Avenue.)…
