ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Ninety-two percent of contractors nationwide report difficulty filling open positions, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. Local construction firms say they are feeling the need for skilled workers.
Business Development Manager Michael Crouse said the shortage is hitting his company’s field operations directly.
“It’s been really challenging to find enough field technicians,” Crouse said. “It’s a job that, as we find success, we have a higher demand constantly. If we win a big project, then that means that we have to staff that project, and that takes away from the technician that can do other work.”…
