‘Who gets the 4 spots?’: Community rails at planned Staten Island high-rise’s shocking lack of parking

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A rezoning application for a 117-unit mixed-use high-rise was unanimously rejected by Community Board 1 on Tuesday, as residents of St. George voiced concerns about the project’s most controversial amenity: A total of only four parking spots.

“Who gets the four spots?” George Turner, chair of the land use committee asked during the meeting, which was held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in West Brighton.

The proposed development, planned for 198-208 Richmond Terrace, is a 14-story residential and community facility building which includes accommodations for at least 30 permanently affordable units.
