Deputies arrest man wanted on various warrants after stopping stolen truck

Syracuse, N.Y. – Deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a wanted man and two others after stopping a stolen Penske box truck in Syracuse.

Stephen M. Smith, 42, of Fulton was taken into custody Tuesday on a range of outstanding bench warrants for failure to appear in court after being charged with stealing property, stealing vehicles, drug possession and other crimes across Onondaga County dating back to August.

Deputies performed a traffic stop on the truck around 6 p.m. after they spotted it near the CNY Regional Market at 2100 Park St. and noticed it matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen out of DeWitt, according to Tom Newton a spokesperson for the office…
