OLDFIELD – No tickets are required to enjoy memories and melodies found at the Oldfield Opry, a weekly music show in rural Christian County. For nearly 50 years, generations of listeners have traveled to its Saturday evening music shows.
Much has changed — from the listeners to the band — since its start, but one person has been a through-line the entire time: Steve Beyers, who today is the only founding band member still regularly on its stage.
The guitarist and vocalist has been a key show support since he was in his 30s. Now 82, he says the Opry has been a structure in his life, too…
