One person was killed in what was called an industrial accident at the Bingham Canyon Mine early Thursday.
According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Brian Carneli was working on a piece of heavy equipment in a maintenance shop on Rio Tinto Kennecott property when a large boom collapsed on top of him.
Fellow employees rendered first aid to Carneli following the accident, but were unable to revive him, and he died at the scene. A LifeFlight helicopter that had been dispatched to the mine to transport Carneli was called off…
