Thursday afternoon (March 12), the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Watch for southeast South Dakota, including Sioux Falls, as well as parts of Iowa and Minnesota. The Watch is in effect from Saturday evening (March 14) through Monday morning (March 16).
“Signs continue to increase for the potential of a largely impactful winter storm this weekend. A wintry mix may begin as early as Saturday afternoon, turning to heavy snow Saturday night into Sunday. High winds may also be possible, bringing the risks of widespread travel impacts. Monitor forecasts closely and be prepared to adjust travel plans.” – NWS 3/12/26
