Third Street Commons housing project in Corvallis to aid chronic homelessness

CORVALLIS, ORE – A new initiative in Corvallis aims to address the pressing issue of chronic homelessness with the development of Third Street Commons. This project will provide 47 permanent supportive housing units, a much-needed resource for the community.

Corvallis Housing First, the organization behind this project, has evolved significantly since its inception in 2008. Initially starting as a seasonal shelter program for men in the winter, it has grown to include about 20 staff members and a team of case managers working with hundreds of clients annually.

“You know, it’s kind of for an unfortunate reason, which is, you know, the issue of homelessness has gotten to be such a pervasive thing in our state,” said Andrea Myhre, the executive director of Corvallis Housing First. “You know, not only in Corvallis, but all over the state of Oregon and all over the West Coast, you know. So we’ve had to grow out of necessity to provide the services that the community needs.”…
