City breaks ground at iconic Tucson landmark

The Tucson House, located on 1501 North Oracle Road, is currently undergoing a $200 million rehabilitation.

City and state officials commemorated the start of renovations at the historic Tucson House on March 10. The rehabilitation will mark a new era for the building, which will provide voucher-based affordable housing to local residents.

The building, located on Miracle Mile is one of Tucson’s tallest residential buildings, and was originally built as luxury apartments in the 1960s. Currently, it contains public housing units. After the ongoing renovations, it will join the city’s housing voucher-based system…
