ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance on Wednesday addressed the State–Municipality Quality-of-Life Task Force aimed at coordinating investigations and prosecutions tied to retail theft, public disorder and drug activity.
The partnership is formalized through a newly signed memorandum of understanding that expands collaboration between state and municipal law enforcement and attorneys, including cross-designation of prosecutors so cases can be charged under the strongest applicable state or municipal laws.
“This is about a durable partnership between the state and the city,” Dunleavy said. “You don’t get a safer Alaska unless you have a safer Anchorage and vice versa.”…
