Albany Man Sentenced to 14 Years for Stabbing

An Albany man, Curtis Reliford, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a brutal stabbing incident that occurred on Christmas Eve in 2024. The sentencing took place on Wednesday (March 11) following Reliford’s conviction for first-degree attempted assault and second-degree assault.

The incident took place at an Exxon gas station on Washington Avenue, where Reliford, 51, approached a 29-year-old man and engaged in an argument. Surveillance footage captured Reliford pulling a sharp object from his pocket and stabbing the victim in the lower left part of his head, injuring his temporal lobe. The victim was hospitalized at Albany Medical Center for two days.

Reliford was arrested on January 23, 2025, and his trial included testimony from eight witnesses, including a store employee and several police officers. However, the victim was unable to testify.
