On this day in 1993, the ‘Storm of the Century’ killed 3 people in NCFL

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – In March 1993, weather models began showing an area of low pressure and extremely unstable atmospheric conditions traveling northeast over the Gulf.

As it moved toward the continental United States, it brought wind gusts of more than 100 mph, 59,000 lightning strikes and 11 tornadoes to Florida.

On March 12 and 13, two F2 tornadoes struck Levy and Alachua counties, causing three fatalities…
