FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Dozens of NIPSCO workers represented by the United Steelworkers Union held gathered outside the company’s facility on Hale Avenue in Fort Wayne Thursday morning as a show of solidarity as in their efforts to get a “fair and equitable contract.”
Similar solidarity events took place at other locations in Indiana.
In a press release, the union stressed that there isn’t a work stoppage and the workers who took part did so on their own personal time, outside of scheduled work hours. The press release did not indicate specific sticking points in contract negotiations, only that the union wants to reach an agreement that, “respects employees’ contributions, ensures fair working conditions, and supports the long-term success of the company and the communities it serves.”…
