Six Arrested After Lake Wales Hit-And-Run Probe Uncovers Illegal Landfill And Drugs

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A hit-and-run investigation in Lake Wales took an unexpected turn on Thursday, leading to the arrest of six residents on various environmental and felony charges. The incident began when deputies arrived at 4336 SR 60 East to investigate a vehicle crash, only to find the property littered with solid waste, debris, and a dozen discarded tires.

The findings prompted a call to the PCSO Environmental Crimes Unit. Upon inspecting the grounds, detectives documented a sprawling collection of household trash, old furniture, children’s toys, and construction materials.

Investigators also discovered toilets, twelve decaying waste tires, and open containers of standing water. A fire pit measuring over eight feet in diameter was found on the site, containing charred remains of household refuse…
