Gulf Council to discuss fishing limits in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A three-day council meeting is set to be held in Mobile.

According to a news release, the Gulf Council will meet at the Battle House Renaissance from April 7 to April 9.

The Council plans to develop an Abbreviated Framework Action in order to “increase lane snapper catch limits.”

Additionally, they will develop an AFA to work with the National Marine Fisheries Service to save part of the red grouper commercial quota increase, beginning in 2027. Doing so will aid the Reef Fish Amendment 63, which aims to better allocate red grouper access…
