An Ocala man was arrested for reckless driving after cutting across lanes on a motorcycle during early morning traffic.
An officer saw 36-year-old Jonathan Michael Gonzalez riding a motorcycle next to a small white car on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The two were side by side, as if they were racing each other. Radar then revealed the motorcycle was going 81 mph as it passed the car at 79 mph.
Once the officer caught up, the car slowed and turned. The officer continued his pursuit of the motorcycle, which changed lanes from the far left to the far right and back again. It continued to exceed 80 mph while making these maneuvers very close to other vehicles in early morning traffic, the report said.
The motorcycle cleared the traffic near Fennell Boulevard and quickly sped through a curve at over 90 mph. Gonzalez proceeded to veer across all lanes of traffic from left to right again before getting into the right turn lane at Water Oak Boulevard.
