Most Johnson County supervisors oppose Clear Creek Amana SRO pilot program

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Most Johnson County supervisors on Wednesday voiced opposition to a proposed pilot program that would add a school resource officer to Clear Creek Amana high school and middle schools.

Under the plan, one Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy would be assigned to the schools. Right now, Tiffin contracts the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to operate law enforcement in the city. One of the deputies assigned to Tiffn would then become a school resource officer.

The City of Tiffin and Clear Creek Amana School Board already approved the one-year pilot program. It now needs the Johnson County Board of Supervisors approval because of that contract with the sheriff’s office…
