DES MOINES, Iowa — It’s not uncommon to see businesses or even government buildings move locations. What’s less common is seeing a park move not just once but twice.
“It’s pretty rare. It’s only like in certain circumstances,” said Derek Hansen, Park Planner for the City of Des Moines.
This is the case for Allen Park, now located on southeast 5th Street, marking its third location. It originally sat north of the Des Moines River until Scotty’s Body Shop purchased the land in 2014.
