Air quality health advisory issued in multiple counties over wildfire smoke

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued a health advisory for multiple counties Friday morning, due to wildfire smoke.

The health advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is for Larimer, Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Crowley, Otero, Kiowa, Bent, Prowers and Baca counties.

Locations include, but are not limited to, Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Julesburg, Holyoke, Akron, Wray, Limon, Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Ordway, La Junta, Eads, Lan Animas, Lamar and Springfield.

CDPHE said smoke from out-of-state wildfires will impact the advisory area. Conditions will improve Friday morning across northeastern Colorado, but that smoke “could linger” into the afternoon across southeastern Colorado, according to the agency.

Residents are advised to remain indoors if smoke in the neighborhood is thick or becomes thick. Those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young and older adults are especially advised to take caution…
