Arby’s has signed on to take over the soon-to-close McDonald’s location in Derwood, making its return to Montgomery County in the longtime drive-thru site at 7200 Muncaster Mill Road in the Red Mill Shops shopping center.
The McDonald’s, which has served the area for decades, is scheduled to close permanently on March 15. In recent weeks, exterior signage has already begun coming down from the building as the restaurant prepares for its final days this weekend.
Last month, Derwood resident Irene Johnson shared video showing workers removing the McDonald’s signage from the building, signaling that the longtime restaurant was nearing the end of its run. The closure marks the end of a location that has spanned multiple fast-food eras in the community…
