Workers laid off from Central Alabama Water today stood in front of the utility’s empty and locked-off parking lot to protest what they called the ultimate betrayal by executives.
The utility laid off 135 workers across the system Friday morning. Those sent home represent 23% of the utility’s workforce, according to a statement from the utility.
