Lynn University visitor accused of stealing $17K golf cart for ‘joy ride’

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A visitor worker atLynn University was arrested Thursday after police say he stole a golf cart from the university campus and took it for what he later described as a “joy ride.”

According to a Boca Raton Police Department probable cause affidavit, officers responded around 9:14 a.m. on March 12, 2026, to Lynn University at 3601 N. Military Trail, following a report that a golf cart had been stolen

Investigators say Darren Marlin, an employee of the Michaels Organization property management company contracted for campus maintenance, had parked his company-issued golf cart in a loading zone near the Capstone building with the key in the ignition.
