Anthony Mondo is a hardcore bass angler. In fact, when we spoke on the phone he was on his way to be a spectator for the famed Bassmaster Classic in Knoxville. But we weren’t talking bass. I wanted to hear the details of an incredible crappie catch Mondo made on Chickamauga Lake.
I am 71 years old and have fished Chickamauga Lake since Mom & Dad took me to the lakeshore in the early 1960’s. And I’ve covered the outdoors and fishing scene as a professional journalist since the early 1980’s. Never in all of those years have I heard of a 4-pound crappie caught on Chickamauga Lake.
I’m not saying it hasn’t happened but I’ve never heard of it, until now…
