Ohio cannabis referendum backers enter home stretch of signature-gathering campaign

CLEVELAND—Ohioans for Cannabis Choice is racing against the clock to collect roughly 250,000 signatures by next week to place a referendum on the November ballot that would block portions of Ohio’s marijuana and hemp regulations from taking effect.

Dennis Willard, spokesperson for the campaign, said volunteer signature collectors have been asked to turn in petition booklets to regional coordinators by Monday so the campaign can better assess whether they’ve met the threshold. The signatures must also come from at least 44 of Ohio’s 88 counties.

Once the booklets are collected, the regional coordinators will bring them to a central location in Columbus, where they will be sorted by county. The campaign’s hard deadline to submit signatures to the state is Thursday, March 19…
