YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A judge ordered J&K Salvage to “immediately cease any and all operations” until it receives a new Clean Water Act permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
In an order filed Friday, U.S. District Judge Karoline Mehalchick wrote that J&K’s pollutant discharge elimination system permit had expired in 2024 — over a year before a massive fire broke out at the salvage yard in February, dumping thousands of gallons of oil runoff and pollutants into Codorus Creek and the Susquehanna River.
