Journey Returns to New Jersey on Solo Tour After 22 Years

After more than five decades of arena and stadium rock dominance, Journey returned to New Jersey on March 5, 2026, bringing its farewell tour, “The Final Frontier,” to CURE Insurance Arena, home of the Trenton Ironhawks, for a night packed with nostalgia and soaring vocals.

The atmosphere inside the arena was electric as fans packed the venue with excitement to see the legendary rock band. Throughout the night, the crowd sang along to many of Journey’s biggest hits, creating a memorable concert experience.

The evening with Journey celebrated more than 50 years and 17 studio albums from the band. Journey was formed in 1973 and originally featured frontman Steve Perry leading the group. Perry left the band in 1998 and was eventually replaced by Arnel Pineda in 2007 after he was discovered on YouTube performing a cover of the hit song “Faithfully.” The band will conclude the first leg of its farewell tour in July.

The concert lasted about two and a half hours, giving fans an extended look at Journey’s deep catalog. The band delivered a full set filled with epic guitar riffs, powerful vocals and elaborate stage production featuring dramatic lighting and large-scale graphics that matched the group’s grand rock style. One highlight was how uncannily similar Pineda’s voice sounded to Perry’s original vocals.

The last time I saw Journey perform live was at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, when the band toured alongside the Steve Miller Band and Def Leppard. The biggest difference in this concert was the ability to dive deeper into Journey’s discography during its solo tour.
