BBB offers tips for purchasing March Madness tickets

RALEIGH — The college basketball tournament known as March Madness begins March 15 and continues through the championship game on April 6. Although games will not be held in North or South Carolina this year, many fans may still travel to watch their favorite teams compete.

As excitement builds, the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Carolinas warns consumers to watch for fraudulent ticket sales. Scammers often take advantage of high demand by posing as legitimate sellers or advertising tickets at unrealistic prices.

“Scammers may try to sell you tickets via the guise of a legitimate ticket vendor or avoiding reputable sales outlets,” said Mallory Wojciechowski, BBB CEO and president. “These fraudsters may advertise too-good-to-be-true prices or will overinflate costs for a profit. It is important to research the original prices and verify the sale platform.”…
