WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The principal of Lake Park Elementary School was arrested on Thursday after deputies say he recorded breath-alcohol levels more than twice Florida’s legal limit.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said that Carlos Castro rear-ended another driver in West Palm Beach late Thursday night.
Deputies responded to the crash around 10:05 p.m. on March 12 at South Military Trail and Purdy Lane, where the other driver told investigators she was stopped in traffic when Castro struck her vehicle from behind. She told investigators that Castro admitted he had been drinking before pulling into a nearby parking lot, where she called 911.
A DUI investigator wrote that Castro appeared unsteady, smelled strongly of alcohol, and slurred his speech. He reportedly acknowledged coming from East Point Country Club and agreed to roadside sobriety tests, which deputies say he failed…
