It’s always a great day when you see commonsense legislation pass out of the statehouse in Des Moines.
I’m writing to express my sincere thanks to our legislators for the passage of Senate File 2421. In our rural communities, where hospitals and independent providers are lifelines, insurance practices, such as take-it-or-leave-it contracts and endless audits, hit hard, driving up costs and delaying care for families who depend on agriculture, as I do.
This bill’s key reforms, such as banning penalties on hospitals for out-of-network care, requiring clear clinical qualifications and timeframes for peer reviews and setting parameters on audits, will strengthen our healthcare system without adding burdens…
