Families voice frustration on timing, transparency before school board vote to close Comeaux

Sarah Armentor’s son is a junior at Comeaux High. He’s an athlete who loves the school and being a Spartan. Everyone gets along and supports each other, he told his mom.

When the news broke Tuesday that the Lafayette Parish School Board was considering a proposal to close the school, rezone students and renovate the site to house the district’s career center, Armentor said she and her family were disappointed.

“Comeaux is a community and you can feel that. These kids have a voice at Comeaux and they’re learning to use it. That’s what we want from productive citizens,” she said. “It’s sad that they (the school board) want to take that away.”…
