Lafayette police are asking for the public’s help to find the driver who fled the scene after running over a woman on a scooter who had already been hit by a vehicle. It happened on Pinhook Road near the Vermilion River on March 4. Authorities reported that a woman riding a scooter was hit by a total of three vehicles. Police said Julie Steed, 24, was initially struck by a drunk driver. She was then hit by two other vehicles, with one driver failing to stop at the scene.
