Fort Bend Crawford falls to Dallas Kimball in state championship game

SAN ANTONIO — Fort Bend Crawford saw its breakthrough campaign come to an end with a 62-42 loss to Dallas Kimball in the UIL Class 4A Division I state title game at the Alamodome on Friday evening.

Crawford, playing just its second varsity season, was aiming to become the first Fort Bend ISD team to win state since Travis in 2013, but the defending champion Knights refused to be dethroned.

“It’s been a long journey,” Crawford coach Chris Iles said. “This season, we reaped the rewards of the hard work we put in those three (previous) years, and we started gelling at the right time. We looked up and I was like, ‘I hope we can make a run guys, so let’s take it one game at a time and try to get all the way to San Antonio.’ And here we are.”…
