‘Money grab’: Tech company defends itself after CCSD pauses decision on school bus camera contract

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A company trying to land a contract with the Clark County School District is defending its technology after accusations that it is operating a “money grab.”

CCSD was poised to sign a contract with Verra Mobility until two weeks ago, when CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert decided to pull from the agenda a vote on adding school bus stop-arm cameras.

Verra Mobility was one of two companies that bid for a CCSD contract on adding cameras to school bus stop-arms. Nevada lawmakers last year passed a law allowing these cameras on school buses to catch drivers ignoring stop-arms…
