Mesa police submit charges against man accused of shooting, killing mother on doorstep

PHOENIX — The Mesa Police Department is submitting charges against a man accused of shooting and killing a mother of seven on his doorstep.

47-year-old Dulance Morin, who is a special agent with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, allegedly shot and killed 32-year-old Maria Lewis and police said an investigation showed probable cause to submit a charge of negligent homicide against Morin.

On Feb. 28, around 2:45 a.m., police dispatch received a 911 call requesting officers respond to a residence near Ray and Ellsworth roads. Police said the caller reported there was an injured person at the front door of the location. Officers conducted a welfare check…
