Gardener Surprised by Lack of Police Contact in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance as New Details Emerge
The mysterious disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues to baffle investigators, with a local gardener expressing surprise that authorities have not yet questioned him regarding his knowledge of the area and its residents.
In video footage shared on Friday, March 13, the gardener, who regularly tends to properties in Nancy Guthrie’s neighborhood, spoke with true crime investigator JLR Investigates. When asked if he had been contacted by police regarding the case, he stated, “I haven’t spoken with no one,” confirming his surprise at the oversight.
He elaborated on his work schedule, noting, “This is my first time back over here in probably, you know a couple of months, because she’s on a bi-monthly (Nancy’s neighbor,) so yeah, we take customers on a bi-monthly basis.” He estimated his last interaction with Ms.
Guthrie was “about a year, maybe 8 months, since I last saw Ms Guthrie, in the morning. You know, ‘Hi Ms Guthrie, how are you.'”
This development comes amidst new theories surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s suspected abduction from her home on February 1.
Fading Hope for Nancy Guthrie’s Return
Maureen O’Connell, speaking with true crime expert Brian Entin on his YouTube channel, shared her diminishing hope for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return. When asked if she believed Nancy was still alive six weeks after her suspected abduction, O’Connell became visibly emotional.
“Do I think she’s alive now? I could just almost burst into tears because I was so hopeful for so long, but I think too much time has passed now.
And I’m so sad about that,” she confessed.
Expert Points to Shooter Proficiency of Suspect
Meanwhile, former homicide detective Dale Lundberg, who is collaborating with investigators, has identified a distinct characteristic about the suspected kidnapper from surveillance footage: their apparent proficiency with firearms.
During an appearance on the podcast Break the Case with Jen Coffindaffer, Lundberg suggested the suspect is not necessarily military or police, but someone “experienced enough with firearms where he’s more comfortable carrying it in a holster than just shoving it into his waistband, like most thugs.” He noted that criminals rarely use holsters, a practice more common among “officers and civilians who shoot a lot.” Lundberg, who has arrested thousands of individuals throughout his career, emphasized the rarity of criminals utilizing holsters.
Ongoing Investigation and Discarded Leads
As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, investigators are examining a damaged utility box near her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson, Arizona, exploring a potential connection to an internet outage reported around the time of her abduction.
Evidence uncovered includes black gloves containing DNA, found two miles from her residence. These gloves were recently linked to a local restaurant employee, who has since been cleared of any involvement in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
Earlier concerns that a body discovered in a Phoenix canal might be Nancy were dispelled after officials confirmed the deceased was another woman. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to pursue leads in this perplexing case.
