A former science teacher in the Boston Public Schools was sentenced to 10 years in prison this week for multiple counts of child exploitation, including coercing at least one underage girl to share sexual images of herself in an online conversation.
John Magee Gavin, 35, of Brookline, was arrested last year after investigators determined he had sexual conversations over the messaging platform Discord with girls ages 12 to 17 during which he often asked them to send him explicit photos of themselves, federal prosecutors said.
