HOKE COUNTY — A Raeford man has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities say a 3-year-old Fayetteville boy died from ingesting fentanyl while in his care in December.
Allen Maurice Carter, 51, is charged in the death of Kairo Kamari Hunt, who would have turned 4 in late July.
According to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, Kairo was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hoke after becoming unresponsive Dec. 4, 2025, at the home Carter shares with Bridget Leach, 47. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital…
