Greenville County evaluating short-term rental landscape, policy options

Last year’s uproar over a proposed hotel on the north side of Paris Mountain brought to light a number of issues, among them being a lack of policy regarding the short-term rental landscape across Greenville County.

In an effort to address those shortcomings, County Council created an ad hoc committee on short-term rentals that began meeting in February to gather information to determine if changes are needed.

An initial snapshot

Council member Liz Seman (District 24) was chosen to lead the committee during its Feb. 16 meeting, joined by Curt McGahhey (District 21), Frank Farmer (District 22), Alan Mitchell (District 23) and Dan Tripp (District 28). Seman said the committee’s work has to start with developing a good understanding of what the short-term rental landscape looks like in the county.
