35 dogs rescued from Anderson County home after owner dies

CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — Anderson County Animal Shelter is in “urgent need” of fosters after it assisted with rescuing at least 35 dogs from a home late Thursday after their owner died, the Anderson County Mayor’s Office said.

The mayor’s office said, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and other local and state agencies responded to a medical call late Thursday that led to the discovery of the dogs. Anderson County Animal Care and Control was contacted to assist with the call at the home on Lake City Highway in Medford.

Most of the animals were rescued from inside the home. Of the at least 35 dogs rescued, 16 ranging from one-week-old to adult, were taken in by the Anderson County Animal Shelter.

“Although our shelter is currently over capacity, we’re heartened by the opportunity to make a difference. We’re counting on your support to help us provide the best possible care for these deserving animals,” the animal shelter wrote on Facebook.
