Staten Island, N.Y. (PIX11) — Neighbors on Staten Island say contractors hired to remove snow during the recent blizzard did thousands of dollars’ worth of damage.
They are asking the city to pay for repairs, and asking why out-of-town contractors, who may be harder to hold accountable, were hired in the first place.

“Probably anywhere between $8,000-$10,000 because what they have to do now is going to have to lay all these stones going forward, and I don’t even know if I have all the blocks,” said Chris Messalas, pointing out the damage to stones lining the edge of his property and his lawn.
He said it was done by Bobcat compact skid steer loaders, clearing snow from the blizzard on Carlton Place two and a half weeks ago. Neighboring blocks had damage as well…
