Staten Island charter school system loses 10th board member amid leadership turmoil

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A board of trustees member’s recent exit marked the latest challenge facing a Staten Island charter school system, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.

The Rev. Dr. Kathlyn Barrett-Williams, of Port Richmond’s Reach Out and Touch Ministries, told the Advance/SILive.com in an email that she no longer served on the board of Integration Charter Schools, but declined further comment.

Led by CEO Sean Harrell since 2022, Integration Charter Schools’ board has lost 10 of its trustees in that time. The charter school system is a non-profit organization governed by a board. Replacements have filled some of those positions but only five currently serve on the board…
