LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Police Foundation is coming together to help longtime officer Bill Mattingly after his home was struck by lightning during the week’s severe storms.
Mattingly was an LMPD officer for 27 years before becoming an ABC officer.
According to the LMPD Foundation, Mattingly’s home was struck by lightning, which hit the underground propane tanks. His wife, Stacey, heard the explosion and was able to quickly grab their Australian Shepherd dog and get out of the home.
Officials said they won’t be able to return home for at least six months, so LMPD is looking to raise money for the affected family through its Officer in Distress Fund…
